Disclaimer: Yeah, I know. Joss and his band of fiends *ahem* I mean friends keep Giles on a
short chain. But I own everyone else. And we've got a set of bolt cutters.
Feedback: Please. All flamers however will be lined up and stooge slapped.
Note: In this one we get to find out a little more about Sarah and Giles pasts (Is that a
word?), what Wendy's problem is, and finally who Sarah is supposed to heal. (As if you
couldn't guess.)

"Ye don't even know where they are."
Ian's words stopped Giles dead in his tracks. After Wendy had told them that Sarah was taken by
vampires, he had grabbed his crossbow and some stakes and was getting ready to go out the door
at full steam. He looked at the small man, who was tending to a cut on Wendy's cheek.
"I think I have an idea. We were going to go to Ascension and check for them. Remember?" Just
then Wendy gave a groan and opened her eyes. She sat up quickly and just as quickly decided
lying down was better. Giles was immediately by her side. "Do you know where they went?"
he asked frantically. "Wendy, do you remember anything that they said? What happened?"
Wendy closed her eyes. "We had just finished trying to beat each other senseless and were
talking, when we were jumped by some vampires. At least three or four. Sarah got one of them.
One of the leaders I think, because they forgot about me and all of them started to go after
her. They knocked her out and I heard one of them say that they were going to have some fun
while they decided what to do with her. They left after that, but I thought I heard them say
something about the rugby green."
Giles was out the door almost before she finished the sentence.

Pain. That's how Sarah knew she was still alive. There wouldn't be this much pain if she was
dead would there? She came to her senses and found her arms had been tied behind her and she
was lying on grass. As her eyes cleared she saw them. Three vamps huddled together and
whispering. One of them looked over at her and smiled.
"Ah. Sleeping beauty awakens." He sauntered over to where she was laying and knelt down. "One
wonders how you happened to be carrying a stake and knew how to use it. Could there perhaps be
more that know as well. "He said as her rubbed her cheek. His voice made her think of Gollum
from 'Lord of the Rings'. Then he put a hand to her lips "Shh. Shh. No need to tell us now.
There'll be plenty of time for that later."

Giles sped along the streets, thankful that, due to the time of night, there were few cars on
the road. He reached the green and screeched the car to a halt, not even turning it off as he
jumped out. Hearing a scream, he ran as fast as he could and came upon a sight that horrified
him. Sarah was on the ground with two of the vamps holding her down. The third had a wicked
looking blade and appeared to be using it to carve something on Sarah's stomach. He stopped
and seemed to admire his handiwork, then put his cigarette where he had just carved. That
produced another scream that spurred Giles into action. He pulled out his already loaded
crossbow and fired at the vampire, glad that his hasty aim had been true as the sadistic artist
turned to dust. The other two let go of their prisoner and went for Giles. He quickly
abandoned the crossbow and, with a stake in each hand prepared to fight the bloodsuckers. As
they neared him, one of the vampires had grabbed the knife used by the one he had killed and
slashed at Giles, cutting his arm. But in his anger, the pain barely registered as he plunged
the stake into its heart. Then the remaining one grabbed him from behind, pinning his arms.
Giles slammed his head back and was rewarded by the vampire releasing him and holding it's
broken nose. Using the distraction, Giles staked it, too, before it could recover.
Dropping the stakes, Giles ran to where Sarah was laying and dropped down beside her. Though
she was cut and bleeding, she was still breathing and appeared to be conscious. Picking her up
in his arms, he whispered, "Sarah." to get her attention. He heart nearly burst with joy when
she looked at him, but just as quickly plunged into despair when he saw the blank look in her
eyes as she asked him, "Who?"
