Note: They never said what Giles was singing in his hotel room the night before. This struck me 
      as appropriate. For some reason I'm feeling angsty lately. Must be PMS

Giles sat in his room, trying to decide the best way to tell Buffy he was leaving. His heart 
felt as if it was going to tear in two at the thought. As he often did when he needed to let 
out his feelings, he picked up his guitar and started tuning it. The song that came to mind fit 
everything he had been feeling the past few days.
"It started off so well
They said we made a perfect pair
I clothed myself in your glory and your love
How I loved you
How I cried..."
He became so involved in the song, he could almost hear an orchestra faintly picking up the 
tune and accompanying him.
"The years of care and loyalty
Were nothing but a sham it seems
The years belie we lived a lie

He really started to pour his soul into the words as he closed his eyes and gave in to his 
feelings. He also could hear the music of the phantom orchestra picking up strength.

I can't face this life alone

As he continued to sing, the door opened and three of the bellboys came in and started to hum 
to the music.
"The slate will soon be clean
I'll erase the memories
To start again with somebody new

As he reached the chorus again, the bellboys immediately started to sing the backing vocals in 
perfect harmony.

The tears started to trickle down his face as his emotions built to a peak, and the lump in his 
throat threatened to choke him.
"Each night I cry I still believe the lie
I love you till I die

As he finished the song, the bellboys left, and the orchestra faded, leaving him to think he 
had imagined the whole thing. He put his guitar away and lay down to wait for sleep.
