The Bronze was fairly crowded tonight, filled with the regular partygoers and a small group there to celebrate Buffy's 21st birthday. They meant well and tried their best to cheer her up, but nothing could quell the deep ache in her heart caused by the absence of the one person she really wished was there - Giles.

The upbeat song faded away as it ended, flowing into the haunting melody of an old love ballad. Buffy sighed wistfully as she looked around at all the couples on the dance floor as they moved to hold each other closely, swaying softly to the music. Her contemplation was cut short by an all too familiar voice from behind her.

"May I have this dance?"

Buffy was almost too afraid to turn around, fearing that the moment she did-- he would only be an illusion. Her curiosity got the better of her so she spun around slowly, her eyes coming to focus upon his wide chest. Traveling upwards past his neck, she beheld those lips she had dreamt of on many a lonely night since his departure. Finally coming to rest on his eyes, Buffy felt herself falling under the spell those beautiful green eyes cast upon her.

Unable to answer verbally she nodded her head slightly, vaguely aware as his hand took hold of hers, leading them out onto the dance floor. Reaching the middle, Giles turned and pulled Buffy against him, raising her arms to drape around his neck. His hands caressed her arms as they descended, leaving her skin tingling from the contact. Buffy shivered even more as she felt his thumbs brush along the side of her breasts before his hands moved down further, wrapping around her waist and pulling her flush against his body.

It took Buffy every ounce of willpower she had to keep breathing as their bodies began to sway with the music, his hips brushing hers in a sensual rhythm. Every part of her body in contact with his felt as though it were on fire, her blood pulsating through her veins. This feeling only intensified as one of his hands moved lower to trace small circles on her lower back. Buffy didn't know how much more of this sweet torture she could endure.

The world around them started to fade away as Giles' face inched closer, his lips pausing to hover millimeters away from hers. His warm breath washed over her lips, teasing them, taunting them, but he made no move to close the gap. Buffy whimpered in frustration and then wove her fingers though the hair at the nape of his neck, drawing his head down to finally meets hers.

Buffy groaned as the blaring of her alarm clock woke her abruptly from her dream, again.

"Godammit! Just once can I please kiss him before I wake up!" Buffy growled into her pillow, her body still quivering from the arousal caused by her vivid dream.

It had been the fourth time in a row she'd had this dream. Every night it was the same. The same music, same words, same actions and very annoyingly, same cut-off point. If she didn't know any better she'd swear it was prophetic...
