Rating: PG
Spoilers: This is my verion of what i think the show "Ripper" might be like, so Season6. After that it's AU.
Disclaimer: Giles is owned by Joss and his cohorts. I think his flat may be too. Everyone
else is mine to do with as I see fit. Don't worry. They all care about Giles and
won't hurt him, unless he wants them too.
Feedback: Sure why not. All flamers however will be boiled in their own Christmas pudding.
Note: This is my first ever fic. In fact my first story ever to escape from my brain. So all
suggestions will be considered. And maybe even used.

Sarah opened her eyes and saw Winnie standing before her.
"What's going on?"
Winnie smiled and stepped aside to reveal the old woman from Sarah's dream. "Oh great. Here to
tell me more riddles?" Sarah groaned.
"I'm here for your decision." The old woman replied. "Where do you want to be?"
Sarah stared at her for a moment. "I've only been here two days. How is that enough time to
make a choice"
"Listen to your heart child. You know where you belong. You just have to say it."
Sarah thought for a moment. She knew that she should go home, but her heart was telling her
otherwise. In the short time she had known them, Giles and his friends, they had treated her
better than anyone she known her other life. And, if it were possible, she was starting to care
for Giles as a real person, not just a character on a show. Something about him reached out to
her, almost as if he knew what she had been through without having to say it. She thought back
to the lunch they had together the day before.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So tell me about yourself, Sarah."
"Not much to tell. I was born. I grew up. Tried astral projection and here I am."
Giles chuckled. "There's got to be more to it than that."
"Nothing worth talking about. What about you? What made you decide to take pity on a
worthless soul like me?"
"No one is a worthless soul. No matter what anyone tells you." He actually seemed angry for a
moment. "Besides. I couldn't just chuck you out in the street with out even a pair of knickers
to keep you warm. The neighbors would talk." He added with a mischievous gleam in his eye.
"Wendy was right. You are naughty. But a lot of fun too I'll bet." 'Oh my god. I'm flirting
with Giles.' Sarah thought. 'and he doesn't seem to mind.' Sarah coughed to hide her sudden
embarrassment.
Giles seemed to sense her discomfort and started to tell her about the house they were going to
the next day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Make your choice girl." The old woman interrupted Sarah's thoughts. "You have to decide now."
"I want to stay with Giles." Sarah said, wishing she was as sure as she sounded.
"So be it. There is no going back now girl. For good or ill. That is now your home." As she
faded away Sarah noticed that Winnie was still there.
"Good choice."
"Thanks. So why am I still standing here talking to you if I'm supposed to be staying? No
offense."
Winnie smiled "None taken. I'm here to tell you what your supposed to do."
"Heal someone the old lady said before."
"Yes. You'll know who when the time comes. You also have magic. That's what brought you here in
the first place. Take care with the power you have though. It can cause pain if you use it
wrong. Giles will help you control it."
"What am I supposed to do with it?"
"What did you do with it today?"
"Fight monsters?"
"Precisely."
"So how did they make it so that I could stay?"
"You died." With that Winnie, too, faded away.
"I What?! Oh great could you at least tell me how to get back to Giles!" Sarah shouted and
then she fell. Again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Mr. Giles?"
He woke up with a start to see a nurse standing over him. "She's awake now and asking for you,
if you'd like to go in."
Giles jumped up from his seat and hurried to the room that they had put Sarah in. In the short
time she had been here, he had started to feel responsible for her. Not to mention the fact
that when she had started to flirt with him the other day, he was surprised to be somewhat
pleased, thinking how attractive she was when she had blushed. Upon entering the room, he saw
that the doctor was with her, just finishing his examination. When she saw Giles, she gave him
a relieved smile that lit up her face.
The doctor straightened up and seeing Giles said "Ah. Mr. Giles I presume. I was just telling
your young lady here that, as long as she takes it easy for a few days, she can go home. It
would seem that now that the shock has worn off, there is nothing I can find wrong with her.
Wish all my patients were fast healers like her." Turning his attention back to Sarah he said,
"I'll give you a few minutes to get dressed and I'll be back with your discharge papers." With
that he left. Giles felt the inexplicable urge to hug Sarah but refrained, not knowing how
she'd react. He settled for sitting on the bed. Turning away so she could put on her clothes.
"So what happened?"
"Well we can forget about trying to get me back."
"Why's that?"
"The Powers That Be told me that I died in my old reality and so you're stuck with me. Oh that
and you're supposed to help me control some magic that they dumped on me."
"Magic?"
"Yeah. To fight monsters with. Now all I have to do is figure out where I'm supposed to live
and get a job etc, etc."
"Well I think we can take care of the job. And you're welcome to stay with me until you can get
a place of your own." For some reason Sarah felt a thrill when he said that. "As for the magic,
I will do everything I can to help you."
"I think I'm gonna like it here." Sarah smiled.
