Disclaimer: Giles is owned by Joss and his cohorts. I think his flat may be too. Everyone else
is mine to do with as I see fit. Don't worry. They all care about Giles and won't
hurt him, unless he wants them too.
Feedback: Sure why not. All flamers however will be boiled in their own Christmas pudding.
Note: This is my first ever fic. In fact my first story ever to escape from my brain. So all
suggestions will be considered. And maybe even used.

The girl...'No, woman' Giles corrected himself in his head, was telling him the most incredible
story he'd ever heard. But then since her arrival an hour ago, everything about her was
unusual, including her arrival.
Sarah was her name and she told him that she had come from a reality where he was a fictional
character. That in her reality, ghosts were a possibility, demons a strong maybe that only
possessed people, but vampires were only stories. How she got here was still a mystery. She
didn't remember doing anything that could have sent her here other than trying astral projection
for the first time. Considering the fact that her clothes hadn't followed her here, Giles
thought that maybe her real body was still wherever she was supposed to be. He had given her
one of his t-shirts until his friend Wendy arrived with something that Sarah could hopefully
wear. She sat on his couch, sipping some tea and looking lost. Giles could still sense some
sort of magic from her and wondered if that had been what had drawn her here to a place where
she could possibly use it. He didn't want to say so until he had a chance to find out more
about her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarah had been glad that Giles had taken her seriously, although it had seemed he took a few
seconds to deal with the fact that he wasn't real where she came from. 'If that didn't make him
think I'm nuts, then maybe there's hope I'll get out of here', she thought. 'not that I mind
being anywhere but home.' As she thought about what she'd left, the less she wanted to actually
go back. But this wasn't where she was supposed to be, so she knew she couldn't stay. Her
thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door.
"So tell us about your mystery guest, Rupert." Sarah heard as he opened the door. Giles came
back in the room, followed by a dark haired woman that was about 5 foot 5 inches, slightly
taller than Sarah and about her weight, around 120lbs or so, and a man who was as short as
Giles was tall, coming up to the woman's shoulder, balding and he looked like a strong wind
could blow him away.
"This is Wendy and Ian," Giles introduced them. "They work with me. I guess you could call us
ghost hunters. Wendy, Ian, this is Sarah. She just sort of dropped in." He then went on to
relate to them what Sarah had told him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After Wendy had given Sarah the clothes she had brought, Giles showed the red-head to his room
so she could get dressed. After closing the door and returning to the living room, Wendy was
the first to speak up.
"So, do you think she is telling the truth? I mean after all, it is a pretty incredible story."
Giles thought for a moment. "Yes I do. There's something about her that makes me think she
was meant to end up here."
"Aye, but why yer flat, Giles?" Ian spoke up with a soft Scottish accent.
"Perhaps because she knows who I am. Or maybe because I'm one of the few people that would
believe her. She has some sort of magic about her and I would like to find out more if I
can."
"Maybe she can see ghosts. Ye were sayin' ye'd like to get a sensitive in to help with the
investigations. Could be yer prayers were answered." Ian chuckled.
"Speaking of which," Wendy said, "The other day I received a call from a fellow near Dartmoor
says he'd like us to come out and investigate some strange things he's been seeing."
Ian chuckled again, "Wouldn't happen to be a great glowin' hound, now would it?"
"Ha, ha. Very funny Ian." Wendy groaned. "Remind me to take away your Sherlock Holmes books."
"Speaking of books...," Giles said, to which the other two groaned, "perhaps we should do some
research to find out what exactly happened to bring our guest here."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarah sat in Giles' bed after getting dressed and tried to collect her thoughts. 'If I got here
through astral projection, maybe I can use it to get back." She lay down and tried to focus
her thoughts as she had before she got into this, but with no success. Instead, all she ended
up doing was to start snoring gently as she fell asleep. That, in itself would have been fine,
except she started to dream.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the other room, the researchers had the same thought as Sarah. "If she got here that way,
maybe she can go back that way." Wendy pondered.
"If it is going to work, we'll probably have to wait a day or so, until she can relax a
little. But, it still doesn't explain how she got here in the first place." Giles reminded
them. "And since we're not finding anything, why don't you fill us in on the Dartmoor case."
"Well, the client says that he's been hearing things move around without anything being touched
and some small fires have started without apparent cause."
Giles thought for a minute. "It sounds like a routine poltergeist."
"I thought so too, but then he said that in the last few days he and several others have
witnessed some sightings and heard voices when there shouldn't be any."
"So it's getting worse then." Giles looked at his bedroom door for a moment. "Perhaps we
should go and investigate. We could also test your theory, Ian."
Wendy's jaw dropped. "You're not seriously thinking of taking her along?"
"Well, we do have a job to do and he can't just leave the little bairn to fend fer herself,
now can he?" Ian commented.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sarah was still in Giles' room, but something was different. That's when she realized she was
looking at herself lying on the bed sleeping. She felt a hand on her shoulder and turned
around to face a woman. An impossibly old looking one at that.
"It's about time you stopped to listen child."
"Who are you?"
"Let's just say that I represent The Powers That Be. You don't have much time before you have
to make a choice."
"What choice?"
"Where you belong. If you wait too long it will be made for you."
"What am I doing here in the first place?"
The old woman chuckled, a dry rasping sound that gave Sarah chills. "Among other things, you're
here to heal. Not just yourself, but another. Another that only you can truly understand."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sarah heard herself say as she woke up. "Damn. Who ever tells
them what to say is truly messed up."
