Don't fear the reaper
She ran through corridors that seemed endless, searching. For what, she wasn't sure. All she knew was that she had to find something. Suddenly she stopped. There before her was a door. Where it led she had no way of knowing, but anything was better than this aimless movement. Putting her hand to the knob, she slowly turned it, a feeling of nervousness coming over her. What if this was what she was searching for? What if it was no better than what she had left? Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open.
He was all her dreams come true. As she moved toward him, he turned to her. His dark eyes showing all the love and caring she had been missing in her life.
"You've come to me at last." He whispered in a voice that sent pleasurable shivers down her spine.
"Now is our time. Come to me, my love." He held his arms open to embrace her.
She ran to him, all her sorrow and worry forgotten as he enclosed her in the safety of his arms. With a sudden burst of wind that sent the curtains of a nearby window flying, they were gone. All that was left behind was a sputtering candle that revealed the body she had shed to be with him. Then the candle went out, darkness obscuring the smile that no one would ever understand.
